The Kenya Blood Transfusion and Transplant Service (KBTTS) was established in the year 2000 within the Ministry of Health.
Its mandate is to collect, test, process and distribute blood and blood products to all transfusing hospitals in Kenya.
In gazette notice number 129, Kenya Blood Transfusion and Transplant Service transitioned to Kenya Tissue and Transplant Authority (KTTA)

DONATION PROCESS

The donation process from the time you arrive at the Center till you leave

REGISTRATION
You need to complete a very simple registration form which contains all required contact information needed to begin the donation process

SCREENING
A drop of blood from your finger will be taken for a simple test to ensure that your blood iron levels are suitable for donating blood

DONATION
After passing the screening test successfully, you will be directed to a donor bed for donation. This takes between 6-10 minutes only

REFRESHMENT
You can stay in the waiting area until you feel strong enough to leave our center. You will receive some refreshments from us in donation zone.

TESTING
Blood is tested for HIV, Hepatitis A & B among other infections

RESULTS COLLECTION
Collect your results at the KNBTS center nearest to where you donated blood from.
